Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, continues it’s 20th Historic Landmark Season. Saturday, March 19th, 2016 @9 &10:30pm, we continue our Women’s History Month Presentations with the Yunie Mojica/Jazzmeia Horn Band with vibraphonist Nikara Warren, bassist Matt Dwonszyk and drummer Sanah Kadoura.
Jazzmeia Horn is a graduate of the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and the 2015 winner of the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition. Yunie Mojica comes the Jackie McLean, Hart School of Music out of the University of Hartford with Rene McLean, as one of her mentors, who originally brought her to Sistas’ Place, while she was still a student there. These young people, combining their talents, represent a bright hope for the future of this music. This promises to be an exciting evening of Jazz: A Music of the Spirit.
