Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, continues its 21st season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence. On Saturday, May 13th, 2017, at 9 and 10:30pm, French hornist, composer/educator Vincent Chancey with an all-star group that includes pianist Bertha Hope, vibraphonist Bryan Carrott, bassist Hill Greene and drummer Newman Taylor Baker, will perform.

This group performed last year and the music was as great as it should be with a stellar band of this caliber. It is bound to be even better this year. This is the last installment of the Brass Fantasy Festival at Sistas Place, so please don’t miss it!

On Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 9 and 10:30pm, multi-percussionist/composer/bandleader/educator Reggie Nicholson will present his Brass Concept Ensemble featuring trumpeter Nabate Isles, french hornist Vincent Chancey, trombonist Curtis Fowlkes and Jose Daila on tuba. This concert will be the first of several African American History Month performances and for this event, Reggie Nicholson will debut compositions inspired by the great artist Jacob Lawrence.
