Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, continues its 23rd season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence.

On Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 9 and 10: 30 pm, drummer Brandon Sanders will lead a band that honors the Great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The band will feature vocalist Melanie Charles(who also plays flute), alto saxophonist Cleave Guyton, pianist Keith Brown, bassist Dezron Douglas and the leader Brandon Sanders on drums. All of these musicians have performed at Sistas’ Place before, in different contexts, and what can definitely be said is that it is a formidable band to honor one of the greats of our culture.
