On Saturday, March 14th, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue our series celebrating Phenomenal African Sistas with a Birthday Celebration for vocalist Vanessa Rubin. For her performance and celebration, Ms. Rubin has put together an All-Star band featuring saxophonist Patience Higgins, pianist Brandon McCune, bassist Kenny Davis and drummer Jerome Jennings.

With her latest release The Dream is You: Vanessa Rubin sings Tadd Dameron, she gives actual proof that she is indeed a Phenomenal African Sista. Don’t Miss This!

On Saturday, February 22nd at 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue with our African American History Month celebrations with bassist Kenny Davis who will present a living Tribute to Jimmy Owens.

The musicians Kenny has chosen are trumpeters Jimmy Owens and Eddie Allen, pianist Luciano Minetti, drummer Jarrett Walter and of course, Mr. Davis on bass. This is a very important and beautiful idea of celebrating an artist who has done so much for the Jazz community and one who should be celebrated in the African American community while he is still on the planet!

On Saturday, April 2nd, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we begin our Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival@Sistas’ Place with Person2Person! This recently recorded project features woodwinds players Houston Person and Eric Person in the frontline with pianist Victor Gould, bassist Kenny Davis, and drummer Vince Ector. The approach of this band is both unique and significant as it is cross-generational. Houston Person, the master saxophonist, performs with the young master saxophonist Eric Person. Their latest recording Blue Vision was recently reviewed in the New York City Jazz Record (scroll to page 14). Don’t Miss This!

On Saturday, November 19th, at 9 and 10:30 pm we continue our 2022-23 season with Vanessa Rubin and her trio featuring pianist Brandon McCune, bassist Kenny Davis, and drummer Winard Harper.

It has been several years since composer/bandleader Akua Dixon has graced Sistas’ Place with her magnificent presence and with this ensemble one should expect a night of great Music of the Spirit!

The Eddie Allen Group features Eddie Allen on Trumpet, Bruce Williams on Alto/Soprano Sax, Misha Tsiganou on Piano, Kenny Davis on Bass, and Jerome Jennings on Drums.

On Saturday, November 18th at 9 and 10:30pm, bassist Kenny Davis, who has played at our venue on numerous occasions throughout the years, will debut as the leader of his own ensemble. Mr. Davis’ ensemble includes the master trumpeter/and flugelhorn player Jimmy Owens, as well as a couple of musicians who are new to Sistas’ Place, pianist Luciano Minetti and drummer Francesco Ciniglio.
