Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, continues its 22nd season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence.

On Saturday, May 26th, at 9 and 10:30, we continue our Sistas’ Place Jazz Festival with Brooklyn and Barbados’ own master pianist/composer/bandleader Ed Stoute who will lead an all-star band consisting of trumpeter Riley Mullins, saxophonist Gene Ghee, bassist Kim Clarke and drummer George Gray.

Ed Stoute is a Brooklyn legend. He has been a prominent fixture on the Brooklyn Jazz scene for the last 5 decades and is a Master of the Music of the Spirit. The band he has put together for this occasion is an incredible one. If you are looking for a way to celebrate the African Liberation Day/Memorial Day Week-End, you need not look any further!

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue our Sistas’ Place/Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival with trumpeter/bandleader, Robert Rutledge, leading a very special band featuring saxophonist Gene Ghee, pianist Sharp Radway, bassist Lonnie Plaxico and drummer Dave Gibson. Robert Rutledge comes out of Birmingham, Alabama and he always plays with the spirit, courage and hope that it takes to rise above any forces that think we are less than great.The week following this performance he will be celebrating a Landmark in his life, come celebrate with us…this promises to be another great Saturday night!

On Saturday, May 20th@9 and 10:30 pm, we continue the Central Brooklyn Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Festival at Sistas’ Place with the Stanley Banks Quintet featuring saxophonist Gene Ghee, guitarist Marvin Horne, pianist Danny Mixon, and multi-percussionist Buddy Williams with the leader on electric bass. When Stanley Banks performs it’s always an event and with this band, it’s bound to be a performance that you will not want to miss!

On Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 9 and 10:30pm, pianist/composer/bandleader Ed Stoute will lead a quartet featuring saxophonist Gene Ghee, bassist Eric Lemon and drummer George Gray.

Ed Stoute is a Brooklyn bred musician who is a master of the craft as a composer and pianist. The band he has put together for this performance is going to create an excitement that one has to witness.
