On Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 7:30 pm, this Women’s History Month show will feature the Endea Owens Trio! The Endea Owens Trio features as band leader and bass, Endea Owens; Keith Brown on piano; and,  Jerome Jennings on drums. This event is Live Streamed and available online on Sistas’ Place’s YouTube page.

Over the last couple of years, Endea Owens has captured the attention of the Sistas’ Place audience as a great young talent with a bright future and for her debut as a bandleader, she has put together a band of some bad young Sistas who are going to rock the house on Saturday.

Charenee Wade is a product of the District 13, the educational district where Sistas’ Place resides. We are therefore proud to honor this Phenomenal Sista as we pay tribute the great Ida B.Wells

To perform his original music, Sharp Radway has organized a stellar ensemble that features trumpeter Duane Eubanks, saxophonist Reggie Woods, bassist Endea Owens and drummer Darrrell Green. It is a wonderful thing to begin the month of February with a musical celebration dedicated to one of our greatest leaders. Don’t miss this!

Sharp Radway

On Saturday, May 19th, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue our Sistas’ Place Jazz Festival with pianist/composer/bandleader Sharp Radway performing original music composed for Malcolm X with a great band consisting of trumpeter Duane Eubanks, saxophonist Reggie Woods, bassist Endea Owens, and drummer Darryl Green.

May 19th is the Arrival Day, aka birthday, of one of the most powerful leaders of African American people, and therefore humanity, Malcolm X. Sharp Radway is a brilliant composer of this Music of the Spirit and he has created something special for this great leader. The compositions he will be performing with this group, for the most part, will be heard for the first time.

Hoard, plus…Endea Owens comes from Detriot which has a history of producing great musicians, and she is in that tradition. One can hear her nightly holding down the bass chair with Stephen Colbert’s Tonight Show and Louis Cato’s exciting band. This Saturday, November 12th at 9 and 10:30pm, pianist/bandleader Anthony Wonsey leads a quintet featuring Steve Carrington on woodwinds, guitarist Huey Cox, bassist Endea Owens, and drummer George Gray.

Anthony Wonsey is one of the masterful musicians coming from the plethora of masterful musicians hailing from Chicago. Over the years of performing at Sistas’ Place, he has captured the attention of its audience while engaging in collaborations with other musicians. Last season, he led this really exciting group which we thought was terrific enough for a return engagement.  Don’t Miss This!
