Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, is in its 24th season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence. On Saturday, January 4th, 2020, we present Jazzical, featuring pianist/composer/bandleader Mark Adams, vibraphonist Derrick Barker, bassist Donald Nicks, and drummer George Gray. The Modern Jazz Quartet, one of the greatest and most enduring groups in this Music of the Spirit left a legacy of style, superb music, swing, African class and grace. Jazzical, which this writer heard a couple of months back, takes the MJQ approach into a 21st Century sound view and it is a compellingly different now thing they do!
