On Saturday, February 4th @ 9 and 10:30 pm we begin our African American History Month Celebrations and continue our 2023 season with the Bill Saxton Quartet in Tribute to Pharoah Sanders. The great quartet that Mr. Bill Saxton has organized for the occasion features pianist Jordan Williams, bassist Tarik Shah, and drummer Darrell Green. One could also call this concert Bill’s Place Meets Sistas’ Place, as Bill Saxton is the proprietor of the Harlem speakeasy that bears his name. In addition to sharing a generational relationship, Mr. Saxton also worked with the great Pharoah Sanders, so, expect a fantastic evening of Jazz: A Music of the Spirit!

On Sunday, February 25th, 2024, Sistas’ Place presents A Jazz Tribute to Sista Viola Plummer. This event is in memory of our Sista Viola and honoring our Brother Ahned Abdullah for the jazz institution they led in building for a quarter century. This event is at Bed-Stuy Restoration Corp. and is $35; cash preferred.

MC Ahmed Abdullah hosts an amazing list of jazz musicians including Reggie Woods, T.K. Blue, Sharp Radway, Patsy Grant, Dwayne Broadmax, Alan Palmer, Venito Gonzalez, George Gray, Gene Ghea, Bill Saxton, Robert Rutledge, Jimmy Owens, Winard Harper, Craig Harris, Danny Mixon, Will Calhoun, Paul Beaudry, Lesedi Ntsane, Steven Kroon, Bryan Carrott, and more (list still in formation).
