On Saturday, February 1st, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue our African American History Month Celebration with pianist Rod Williams playing the music of Unsung Music of the Spirit composers Bertha Hope, Elmo Hope and Herbie Nichols. The Rod Williams Quartet features saxophonist Eric Person, bassist Kenny Davis and drummer Darrell Green. Sets are at 9 pm and 10:30 pm and $20 with advance reservations (call (718) 398-1766). Tickets at the door are only $25.
Pianist Rod Williams is usually at Sistas’ Place in accompaniment with Tulivu Donna Cumberbatch. This is his debut as a leader of his own quartet and it is a powerful unit organized to play the music of some our greats.
