Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Frederick Douglass Square, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, is in its 26th year with the music of Resistance, Resilience, and Resurgence. Sistas’ Place is a Historic Landmark Institution!
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we present Rene McLean and Music of the Spirit featuring trumpeter Lesedi Ntsane, pianist Hubert Eaves the III, bassist Nat Reeves, multi-percussionist Will Calhoun, African percussionist Baba Neil Clarke and spoken word artist Kewulay Kamara with the leader on woodwinds.
It’s been at least two years since Rene McLean has graced Sistas’ Place with his ensemble. He comes as the third artist in three weeks who comes from a musical family and we know of the significance of the number 3 in African culture. On the eve of a Holy Eve, one would be advised to make reservations (718-398-1766) because Rene, as the son of Jackie McLean, one of the progenitors of Jazz: A Music of the Spirit, carries on the great tradition of that innovator!
Only tickets for the 10:30 pm show remain available, get them before they sell out!
Seats are $20 in advance and only $25 at the door. Make reservations early by calling (718) 398-1766. Mask up!
