Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, is in its 24th season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence. On Saturday, January 25th, at 9 and 10:30 pm, we begin an early African American History Month Celebration with the Nat Adderley Jr. Quartet playing the music of the Adderley Family featuring saxophonist/flautist Mike Lee, bassist Chris Berger, drummer Alvester Garnett and the leader, pianist Nat Adderley Jr.
The Adderley name is an important one in the music because it’s synonymous with swing, funk, spirit and musical excellence. Nat Adderley Jr. keeps the torch burning, making his debut as a leader at our venue and playing some of the time-honored Jazz standards created by his family.
