Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, continues its 23rd season with the music of Resistance, Resilience and Resurgence.
On Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 9 and 10: 30 pm, trombonist/composer/bandleader Andrae Murchinson presents Blues In the Water featuring pianist Sharp Radway, bassist Parker McAllister and drummer Henry Conerway the III. Blues in the Water is our second African American History Month presentation and it features some new and exciting instrumentalists who will be performing at Sistas’ Place for the first time. The approach created by leader Murchinson is a reflection on the African American spiritual Wade in the Water and a meditation on the Blues using water as a musical metaphor and baptism. Don’t miss this!
