Sistas’ Place, 456 Nostrand Avenue, at the corner of Jefferson and Frederick Douglass Square, where Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Lives and Culture is our Weapon, is in its 28th year with the music of Resistance, Resilience, and Resurgence. Sistas’ Place is a Historic Landmark Institution.

On Saturday, April 29th @ 9 and 10:30 pm, we continue the Central Brooklyn Jazz: A Music of the Spirit Festival at Sistas’ Place with Ahmed Abdullah’s Diaspora Meets Francisco Mora Catlett’s AfroHORN with baritone saxophonist Alex Harding, tubaist Bob Stewart, pianist D.D. Jackson, African percussionist Roman Diaz, multi-percussionist Francisco Mora Catlett, poet/vocalist Monique Ngozi Nri and Ahmed Abdullah on trumpet, flugelhorn, and vocals.

This project was recorded in 2019 to celebrate the music of Sun Ra and two bands outside of his Arkestra, led by musicians mentored by him.
